TV Review: Lucha Underground (S01E01-E06)

+ has a completely different ‘feel’ to the mainstream promotions
+ filmed in a way that makes it come across as a TV show, rather than a wrestling show
+ commentary is not neutered, and can make all the difference
+ the smaller but raucous crowds and tight camera work draw you in
+ return of a few familiar wrestling faces, from all over the world

– too early to form attachments to many of the performers
– only one episode a week doesn’t give a huge amount of time for each story

> This is not a ‘wrestling show’, it is a TV drama that just happens to feature wrestling matches
> Basically, this is a great alternative to the sterile and often predictable mainstream wrestling promotions

Should you watch this show: If you like wrestling, and particularly if you are looking for something different, then absolutely. Even those with only a passing interest may find it more accessible.
